Dutch Braid

hairstyling

Dutch braids are a trendy and versatile hairstyle that we teach in our Academy. Also known as inverted or inside-out braids, Dutch braids are created by crossing the strands under each other, rather than over. This technique gives the braid a raised appearance, making it stand out beautifully.

Here's a step-by-step guide on how to create Dutch braids:

1. Start by parting the hair: Begin by parting the hair down the middle or on one side, depending on your desired look.

2. Take a small section: Take a small section of hair near the hairline and divide it into three equal strands.

3. Cross under: Instead of crossing the strands over each other, cross the right strand under the middle strand, and then cross the left strand under the middle strand. This creates the initial stitches of the Dutch braid.

4. Add more hair: As you continue braiding, add more hair to each section before crossing it under. Take a small section of hair from the side, add it to the right strand, and cross it under the middle strand. Repeat the same on the left side.

5. Repeat the process: Keep adding hair to each section and crossing them under until you reach the nape of the neck. At this point, you can continue braiding the hair normally or secure it with an elastic band.

6. Pancake the braid (optional): For a fuller and more voluminous look, gently pull on the outer edges of the braid to loosen it and create a pancake effect.

Dutch braids are not only stylish but also practical, as they keep the hair neatly in place. With a little practice, you'll be able to master this braiding technique and create beautiful Dutch braids.
